Job Description

Synopsis

Due to strategic growth in our business across a number of sectors, we have a great opportunity for a Civil Design Draftsperson with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience to join our CAD & GIS team in Brisbane. You will work closely with our Engineering and Transport Planning teams and report to the CAD & GIS Manager on a range of drafting and design tasks. You will also work collaboratively with our engineers and environmental consultants on a range of interesting and multi-discipline projects across the APAC region.

Key Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

• Preparation of Concept and Detail Design documents,
• Site layout design,
• Road horizontal and vertical geometric design,
• Drainage design (quality and quantity),
• Vehicle manoeuvring and carparking layouts (including the use of AutoTurn),
• Preparation of figures for design reports,  
• Spatial data creation and management,
• Spatial data analysis and integration,
• Providing spatial knowledge and assistance to internal and external clients.

 

Person Specification

Essential

Our ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

• Possess an Associate Diploma, Associate Degree or other relevant qualification / experience in a related discipline,
• Proficient knowledge and application of Australian Standards and design guidelines, • Be a collaborative member of a growing team, • High level of written and verbal communication skills,
• Have a high level of proficiency and experience in the use of:
- Autodesk’s AutoCAD Civil 3D software including add-ons (AutoTurn)
- Stormwater drainage design
• Australian working rights,
• Current Driver’s License.

Desirable

• Diversity of project background experience that can be applied across a range of project types including:
- Engineering (Civil / Mine / Waste), - Planning (Transport / Urban / Landscape)
- Stormwater drainage design
- Water Quality modelling (MUSIC)
- 3D landform modelling
- Spatial Information Science
• Experience in the use of other spatial software packages such as ArcGIS, MapInfo, QGIS, SketchUp, and other CAD packages,
• Experience with a variety of spatial data formats for use in specialist environmental modelling software packages, • Experience producing high quality cartographic mapping,
• Generation of presentation graphics using graphical or design software,
• Knowledge / background in Environmental Sciences.
