We currently have a great career opportunity for an experienced Civil/Environmental engineer looking for that next step in their career.  As an Engineer in our Civil & Structural Engineering team in Newcastle, you will have the opportunity to be a part of a well-established team and getting involved in a cross section of multi-discipline projects across Australia. The team delivers projects across SLR's market sectors including Mining & Minerals, Built Environment, Infrastructure, Industry and Power.

Job tasks and responsibilities

The role is diverse and your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Deliver civil and environmental design across:
    • Landform and earthworks
    • Road design for a range of land uses
    • Stormwater and Drainage design
    • Water Sensitive Urban Design
    • Surface Water Management
    • Erosion and Sedimentation Control
  • Study management and client liaison of projects
  • Preparation of engineering reports
  • Provide professional advice and expertise to clients (internally and externally)

Person Specification

Skills and experience

Our ideal candidate will have 2 to 5 years industry experience including experience within a consultancy group.  Experience with earthworks, roadworks and stormwater management design is essential. You will also have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related discipline
  • Proven project management capabilities
  • Some experience in water modelling software such as Goldsim, Rafts, XP-SWMM or Tuflow
  • Ability to demonstrate conceptual and critical thinking
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with mining infrastructure design would be favourable
