Due to continued growth and expansion we are looking for Project Ecologists to join our ecology team for work in South Wales over the 2017 field season This will be on a casual basis or, for the right candidate, a Fixed Term Contract. Our team works on a variety of projects, across a wide range of industry sectors. Whilst most work is UK-based the team also work on a number of overseas projects
You will join a friendly team of ecologists in a multi-disciplinary consultancy with offices throughout the UK.
Main duties and responsibilities:
Casual staff will join us on an “as and when required” basis during the busy survey season, with no fixed hours offered, and no commitment to accept every assignment offered. However given the busy workloads during this period it is envisaged that work will be offered on a regular basis, and is a great way for individuals looking gain valuable practical experience to enhance their CV to do so. Work will in all likelihoods be predominantly within the South Wales region, but there is the possibility of occasional work further afield being offered, with expenses being reimbursed for any travel and accommodation required.
The role will involve assisting on a wide range of ecological projects. These are likely to involve assisting with field surveys and translocations for a range of protected species, in particular great crested newts.
Technical Skills, Abilities, Experience:
• Experience in specialist fauna surveys, e.g. bats, amphibians, reptiles.
• Hold, or be working towards, protected species survey licences e.g. great crested newt, bats.
• Excellent time management skills.
Education, Qualifications, Memberships:
• BSc Ecology, Biological Science (or equivalent).
• Hold (or eligible for) minimum Graduate or Associate level membership of CIEEM
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willing to learn and motivated.
• Valid driving licence.
