Job Description

SYNOPSIS:

SLR is keen to continue the successful growth of its UK Highways & Transportation Planning team and is eager to hear from individuals with the potential to help us to achieve this.

We are looking to appoint a development planning focussed Highways & Transport specialist within our established London (Victoria) office to diversify the team’s geographical presence; and to play a lead role in both project delivery and continued client and business development with the introduction of new clients and work streams to the group within London.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Successful candidates will have a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in the growth and development of the presence for the UK Highways and Transportation Planning team within SLR’s London office; with support from an extensive and diverse range of technical expertise throughout the group. As with all of our technical discipline teams, our H&TP team work as a single team UK-wide as part of SLR’s “one team” culture without the cross-office charging which hampers many competitors; this opportunity offers the potential to join this busy team at a significant level – and with fantastic scope for progression.

Working with predominantly private sector, development planning based clients the successful individual will have a key responsibility for both winning/developing new business for the H&TP team, as well as playing a lead role in the delivery of these projects. As workloads grow it is envisaged that the successful candidate will have the opportunity to expand a local team around themselves. 

As well as developing work and clients within their own technical discipline, the successful individual will also have responsibility for the cross-selling of services offered throughout the Group, and the project management of work won outside of their own area of expertise.

 

Person Specification

TECHNICAL SKILLS / ABILITIES / EXPERIENCE :

Essential:

  • Proven work winning capabilities within a consultancy context
  • Technical expertise within the Transportation / Highways disciplines

Desirable:

  • The ability to lead, motivate and grow a technical team 


EDUCATION / QUALIFICATION / MEMBERSHIP :

Essential:

  • Relevant first degree

Desirable:

  • Related post-graduate qualification
  • Membership/Chartered Status with a relevant professional body/institute

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES :

Essential:

  • Possess good communication skills, both with internal colleagues and when meeting with clients / potential clients
  • Work independently or part of a team
