Emily Drinkwater

Senior Field Ecologist, UK Close

I joined SLR from university in 2013, having worked for the company during holidays as a student, and last year I won the Promising Professional Award from the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environment Management (CIEEM). I work mainly on great crested newt translocation projects at the moment, although I’ve recently gained a Bat Class 1 survey licence so I will be involved in more bat-related projects this year. It’s the variety of the work I enjoy the most; the projects are always very different and it’s a great team to work with – ecologists and non-ecologists alike!

Jamie Robinson

Technical Director, Geochemistry, UK Close

My work is varied and ranges from examining the prediction and passive treatment of mine drainage to undertaking land quality risk assessments and due diligence studies. I have been privileged to work on projects with SLR colleagues in Canada, South Africa, Namibia, Australia, Ireland and the US, as well as the UK. With mine closure becoming more prevalent, I see the use of passive treatment systems (e.g. wetlands) as becoming more relevant globally due to the low lifetime costs.

Deirdre Lewis

Technical Director, Geology, Ireland Close

I have nearly 30 years’ experience in the exploration and mining industry as a professional geologist working in Europe, Australasia, Africa and South America. I joined SLR in 2008 when my previous company, CSA Group, was acquired. My work focuses largely on mineral exploration, independent expert reporting and geological research for clients, and increasingly the management of social impacts of geoscience activities. I enjoy the multi-disciplinary scope of work both at home and abroad, sharing expertise among colleagues across all aspects of natural resources development and management, which creates a constant learning environment.

Stewart Lenton

European Operations Manager, Environmental Management, Planning & Approvals, UK Close

I joined SLR in 1996 when the business comprised about 25 staff in total, having previously worked within the minerals industry. Over the 20 years I have been with SLR, the company has developed significantly in the range of services provided across a wider range of sectors, as well as through our global reach. Throughout these times it has always remained a great place to work. As a member of the European Management Team, I spend much of my time working on the development of both individuals and the growth of the teams that I have responsibility for. We now have a great opportunity to grow the business profitably in both a staff and client-focused manner.

Simon Walsh

Principal, Civil and Structural Engineering, UK Close

I joined SECOR, now SLR, as a project engineer in 1996. During the past 20 years I have been fortunate to work on a variety of projects (infrastructure development, quarries, leachate treatment facilities, landfills and tailings dams) covering the full project spectrum from inception and feasibility to construction in the UK, Australia and Africa. Every day at SLR presents new challenges and the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse range of talented colleagues.

Ntsako Baloyi

Stakeholder Engagement Manager South Africa Close

My career began at SLR, then Metago Environmental Engineers, in 2006. I spent three years working as an environmental assessment practitioner then joined BHP Billiton and Accenture, before re-joining SLR in 2012 to build the Stakeholder Engagement offering in Africa. My vision is to see SLR grow even further particularly on the African continent. I was delighted to be elected recently as the youngest ever President of the International Association for Impact Assessment (IAIA) in South Africa. IAIA is the leading global network on best practice in the use of impact assessment for informed decision-making regarding policies, programs, plans and projects.

My role at SLR is to support and assist consultants and the management team to drive strategic workforce planning, develop talent, build on our friendly corporate culture, develop further modern HR processes, and ensure we operate within the framework of African labour legislation. I enjoy working at SLR because of the unique company culture and the people. Employees always have a clear understanding of the direction in which SLR is going. Above all, SLR practices honest and open communication that builds trust and loyalty.

Trevor Harraway

Technical Discipline Manager, Due Diligence Advisory Services, South Africa Close

I joined SLR in 2015 from another major international consultancy and with considerable due diligence experience in Africa and the UK. An important element of my role is to expand our advisory services and enhance the capacity of our local teams to deliver complex transactional due diligence assessments, drawing on the already strong skill base present across the business. What has stood out for me since joining SLR has been the quality of the expertise which spans deep technical scientific and environmental engineering fields. Also, there is an established collective culture and a flexible approach to how we design and deliver projects.

Briony Croft

I joined Heggies, a company acquired in Australia by SLR, in 2010 and relocated to SLR in Canada in 2014. My role and experience includes a wide range of different areas within acoustics. I joined the company in 2014 when Environmental Offshore Services (EOS) was acquired by SLR. My work is predominately in the oil and gas sector where I thrive on the challenging and varied project opportunities. I am fortunate to have a very talented team working with me in Nelson and benefit from the support of the wider Asia-Pacific business. In a challenging market, the support and size of SLR has helped us build and grow the marine science discipline in New Zealand, where we are now regarded as one of the top environmental consulting providers for offshore environmental monitoring programmes, consultation and regulatory approvals.

Megan Coracci

Principal and US Transactional Due Diligence Manager, US Close

The merger and acquisition work where I spend most of my time encompasses a wide variety of industries and market sectors both nationwide and internationally.  The most enjoyable part of my job is the diversity of the projects, the challenges of every transaction, and the great people I get to work with on a daily basis. I’ve spent over 17 years working with many of the same colleagues.  Over the last year we’ve added some talented staff in Portland, and I’ve had the pleasure of working with the team who joined with E.Vironment in Houston, as well as great people in the UK, Australia, South Africa, Canada, and Ireland.

img

Ian Mitchell

Technical Discipline Manager, Hydrology & Hydrogeology, Canada Close

I manage a talented team of water resource professionals in SLR with diverse surface water and groundwater skillsets. My personal expertise is in the assessment of contaminated sites, developing strategies to achieve site closure and advising clients on how to navigate the complex regulatory framework and obtain regulatory instruments. I have always been passionate about minimal impact exploration of remote wilderness areas.  It was a natural progression for me to develop a career in the environmental business as it provides me with a sense of giving back to the environment, which sustains us and provides so much enjoyment.
