Job Description

Synopsis:

SLR is a leading international environmental consultancy with an established network of offices throughout the UK, Ireland and France; with an extensive team of professionals providing consulting services across sectors including energy, waste management, planning & development, industrial, mining & minerals and financial & professional services.

Due to expanding workloads owing to continuing growth as part of SLR’s ongoing ambitious global expansion plans, we are looking to appoint a trainee service desk analyst to support the work of the European IT team from the company’s Bristol based office.

The successful candidate will show an enthusiastic approach to problem solving an array of first line support cases.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Candidates should have some experience in IT support or working in a helpdesk environment but this is not essential, as on the job training will be provided. The successful candidate will be part of a technical support team supporting our European staff region handling all first line based issues including but not limited to; computer hardware and software, phone systems, mobile devices, printing devices, backup checking and resolving, network patching and technical documentation completion.

You will report to the Senior IT Helpdesk Advisor as your supervisor working alongside him in the Bristol office on a daily basis, with the IT Manager for Europe your line manager. 


In addition, the successful applicant will have good technical, problem solving and communication skills, has a passion for problem solving, and is able to diagnose and resolve staff IT issues successfully. Is punctual, well organized dedicated and of a professional manner at all times

Above all else, we are seeking a confident individual that has the potential to learn and grow into our small European based team but also be part of a growing move to a global, follow the sun service desk initiative later this year.

 

Person Specification

TECHNICAL SKILLS / ABILITIES / EXPERIENCE :

Essential:

  • Competent problem solving & communication skills

Desirable:

  • Working knowledge of Windows operating systems, MS Office 2010, 2013, 2016 Android OS, Sophos Antivirus.
  • Relevant experience in a helpdesk based role

EDUCATION / QUALIFICATION

Essential:

  • GCSE level qualifications or equivalent

Desirable:

  • A Level Qualifications
  • Relevant BTEC / First diploma

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES :

Essential:

  • Possess good communication skills and able to communicate effectively with internal staff and when meeting with external suppliers and support functions
  • Ability to work independently or part of a team
  • Have a genuine interest in Information Technology, problem solving and career progression 

OTHER:

Desirable:

  • Holds UK drivers licence / has own transport
