Alpha Lake, Cliffe

The client required an enhanced saline lagoon habitat ideal for bird species and other fauna and flora central to the site’s SPA, Ramsar Site and SSSI designations using inert waste.

SLR worked with the client to prepare an application for a landfill permit, waste transfer and discharge licences, develop a plan for engineering of the site to minimise the risk to water quality within the lake, undertook bespoke 3D-mixing zone modelling to demonstrate that water quality within the lake would be protected during the construction works.

Bespoke waste acceptance criteria were derived to ensure protection and enhancement of the designated site’s interest features.
