Runcorn Investigative Noise Survey

SLR was commissioned by the Client to determine the contribution of sound from their Energy from Waste (EfW) Facility to the noise environment at nearby Receptor locations.

The assessment was required as the Client wanted to determine:

• The noise impact of their Site  upon nearby Receptor locations; and
• The noise impact of other industrial noise sources in the area upon the same Receptors.

The goal of the assessment was to quantify noise levels in the area, and to determine if the Client’s operations were the cause of noise complaints from Receptors.

From the survey results presented it was evident that both the EfW Facility and adjacent Businesses contributed to the noise environment at Receptor locations. The results therefore demonstrated that the Client’s Site was not the only source of noise in the area, and that the source of noise complaints was not necessarily operations at the EfW Facility.
