Tailings Management Facility: Independent Review of Closure Works​

SLR was appointed by Vedanta Lisheen Limited to undertake an independent review of the closure process for the restoration of the Tailings Management Facility (TMF) at Lisheen Mine.

The study involved examination of the existing Closure, Restoration and Aftercare Management Plan (CRAMP) for the TMF, implemented under the Integrated Pollution Prevention & Control (IPPC) Licence for the mine.​

The key tasks undertaken included the review of:​

• The closure design proposed in the CRAMP;​

• The closure commitments stated in the CRAMP;​

• The implementation of the commitments; and​

• The monitoring and verification documentation demonstrating the compliance with the stated closure commitments.​
