Challenge

SLR was invited by DRA Global (Toronto operation) to provide a services for Pre-feasibility Study engineering services for the Timok Project.

DRA is a diversified global engineering, project delivery and operations management group headquartered in Perth, Australia.

The Timok Gold mining project, located in Serbia, is owned by Dundee Precious Metals, a Canadian based, international gold mining company headquartered in Toronto.

Solution

The study was awarded to DRA in early April and work on the project has initiated. The services to be provided by SLR throughout the study include hydrology, open pit dewatering design inputs, waste rock slope design, water balance, engineering for tailings disposal and water management, and physical closure concepts.

In addition, SLR will provide support with integration of environmental aspects and engineering. DRA will provide engineering services associated with the heap leach facility, plant area, open pit design, mechanical and electrical aspects, water supply and water treatment. ERM will provide environmental and permitting support.

Impact

The study will encompass two phases: Phase A involves evaluation and completion of trade-off studies with the main objective of defining the project by the end of Phase A. The subsequent Phase B involves design of project facilities according to the project definition.
