Alistair James is a Professional Civil Engineer registered in South Africa and Tanzania with 30 years’ experience working mainly with clients in the Mining and Minerals sector, Industrial and other sectors. Alistair has been involved in the planning, design and construction of a number of projects primarily on the African continent including South Africa, Botswana, Tanzania, DRC, Congo, Ghana, Mali, Mozambique, Rwanda, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Lesotho. Alistair is a recognised leader in the field of mine waste and water management. Alistair heads up SLR’s advisory services in Africa and is the Industry Sector Leader for Africa.
Rod has 30 years’ experience in undertaking soil surveys, formulating erosion and sediment control plans, conducting land reclamation and revegetation programs, preparing water management plans and assessing environmental impact of industrial developments such as abattoirs, steelworks, alumina refineries / aluminum production plants and intensive agriculture (beef cattle feedlots, dairies, piggeries, poultry) and viticulture.
Rod is a Certified Professional Soil Scientist (CPSS Stage 3) with the Australian Society of Soil Science and a Certified Professional in Erosion & Sediment Control (CPESC) with the International Erosion Control Association (IECA). Having fulfilled the roles of extension officer, regulator, consultant and contractor, Rod is in the unique position of having an intimate knowledge and understanding of soil and water management issues within a variety of industries.
Glenn Reynolds is a Senior Hydrogeologist and the National Industry Sector Leader at SLR. With over 35 years of consulting experience, Glenn specialises in investigations of groundwater, surface water, soil and non-aqueous phase contamination plus litigation support and the development and approval of remedial strategies at industrial facilities.
Julie has spent over 15 years working with companies from a range of industrial and commercial sectors to understand the impacts of carbon and energy legislation and reporting schemes on their business. She helps organisations to integrate their response to these policies into business operations and achieve sustainable compliance. Julie also helps organisations with the management and reporting of their greenhouse gases (at organisational, product and supply chain levels) and works with them to develop strategies to reduce energy use and carbon emissions, and hence operating costs.
Julie is also Chair of the UK Emissions Trading Group Domestic Measures working group. This group is attended by UK government departments, the UK Environment Agency, trade associations and large companies to discuss and debate changes in UK energy and carbon policies (e.g. Climate Change Agreements, Carbon Reduction Commitment and the Energy Savings Opportunities Scheme, plus how they interact with the EU Emissions Trading Scheme).
Mr. Shipley brings over 25 years of environmental consulting experience with a focus on Industry and Manufacturing projects for national and international clientele. His background includes strategic client development, program and project management, soil and groundwater remediation, engineering design, and industrial wastewater treatment. His background includes expertise with a diverse range of industry projects including manufacturing, metal processing and coatings, midstream energy storage and distribution, and state/municipal government.
