Alan has acted as a hydrogeological and hydrological expert witness at a number of public inquiries, civil claims cases and Lands Tribunal Cases for wind energy developments, quarries, landfills and peat extraction sites. Such developments included the Carnedd Wen Wind Farm in mid-Powys and the Bolton Fell Peat Extraction site in Cumbria.

Derek Armitage, Technical Director , BEng (Hons) Civil Engineering

Derek Armitage has presented expert witness evidence on flood risk and drainage matters at Appeal Inquiries for Ardley Energy from Waste facility, Oxfordshire, and for a strategic rail freight interchange in Dartford, Kent.

Written evidence prepared by Derek for the Avonmouth EfW Inquiry obviated the need to take the stand. Most recently, Derek presented expert witness evidence on flood risk and associated policy matters for the contentious Willows Power & Recycling Centre, King’s Lynn which culminated in the Planning Inspector’s report recommending that planning permission be granted. The application was subsequently withdrawn by the applicant prior to the Secretary of State’s decision.

Jamie Robinson, Technical Director, C.Geol SiLC

Jamie is a Geochemist has been witness to fact associated with oil contamination litigation and presented investigation findings at a coroners court. He is a Specialist in Land Condition who has provided technical advice associated with civil claims resulting from groundwater and soil contamination.

Geoff Keenan, Principal, FGS

Geoff Keenan has presented expert witness evidence on groundwater and surface water impacts at an Oral Hearing on the construction of the N18 highway in Ireland. Geoff presented his written evidence and was cross examined on the stand. The planning application was granted.
