- Location

Challenge
SLR has provided environmental, planning and permitting services to Dalradian Gold Ltd. (DGL) in relation to their Curraghinalt Gold Project in Co. Tyrone. This advanced exploration project is located within an environmentally sensitive area – Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and adjacent to the Owenkillew River Special Area of Conservation (SAC).
Solution
SLR has completed an Environmental Baseline Study (EBS) for the project. Following an initial baseline scoping exercise with the key regulatory agencies in N. Ireland, SLR undertook baseline studies covering ecology (terrestrial and aquatic); landscape and visual; surface water; groundwater; air quality; noise; vibration; radon; traffic; soils & geology; socio-economic, and cultural heritage.
Impact
Findings from the baseline studies were presented to key regulatory agencies during the study period including the Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA) Water Management Unit (WMU); NIEA Natural Heritage: NIEA Build Heritage; DoE Strategic Planning Division and the Rivers Agency.
SLR used MapInfo GIS to present and report baseline data.
