Kelso sustainability resource recovery facility masterplan

Client Name
City of Canterbury Bankstown Council
Location
Panania, New South Wales, Australia

Challenge

The City of Canterbury Bankstown owns and operates the Kelso Sustainability Resource Recovery Facility in Panania. The Council is considering how to make best use of the site as both a resource recovery facility and a community facility. To assist council in this task, SLR was engaged to provide a masterplan for the future of the facility.

Solution

SLR undertook a review of documentation and prepared a brief snapshot of previous work undertaken for the site. Following the documentation review, SLR convened three workshops with Council staff.

Impact

Based on the documentation review, and the outcomes of the workshops, a final site masterplan was developed. To facilitate the implementation of the Master Plan, SLR developed a range of recommendations including identification of income streams, cost-benefits analysis and preparation of concept designs and subsequent detailed designs.

SLR’s GIS team also prepared a range of 3D images and a fly through video to show what the final masterplan would look like.
