Kidbrooke Station Square Environmental Impact Assessment
- Client Name
- Notting Hill Genesis & Transport for London
- Location
- London, UK
Challenge
SLR was instructed to provide Environmental Impact Assessment (‘EIA’) co-ordination and preparation, including the undertaking of various technical assessments required to inform the EIA, to support a planning application for the comprehensive development of Kidbrooke Station Square in the Royal Borough of Greenwich for 619 residential dwellings, retail, business, new station and residential squares. The development was a joint venture between Notting Hill Genesis and Transport for London.
Solution
SLR provided a range of EIA services, including providing a technical advice note on the assumptions to be used to formulate the Environmental Statement (i.e. baseline and committed developments), preparation and review of an EIA Scoping Request, chapter templates (for use by external consultants), review of technical chapters and preparation of the Environmental Statement itself.
The EIA was rigorously reviewed by both Greenwich Council and an external third party consultant, whilst an EIA addendum was prepared in response to a design alteration. SLR attended meetings with the Council, the Greater London Authority (GLA) and presented at public consultation events.
Impact
The application was taken before planning committee with a recommendation for approval and was subsequently approved following call-in by the GLA. SLR is now providing post-permission advice on both discharge of conditions and construction related queries.
