Lake Management Plan for Coral Cove Lifestyle Village

Client Name
MHE Property Co. Pty Ltd ATF Coral Cove Operator Trust
Location
Queensland, Australia

Challenge

Lakes in Queensland often face issues like algal blooms and weed infestations, leading to costly interventions. To avoid this, the client needed a user friendly Lake Management Plan.

MHE Property Co. required a Lake Management Plan as part of the conditions of their approved Development Application by Bundaberg Local Council for the Coral Cove Lifestyle Village Relocatable Home Park, located in Innes Park, Queensland. The condition required the Lake Management Plan to address human health, safety, water quality, lake responsibilities, prohibited uses, management processes, inspections, and maintenance.

Solution

Our team was engaged to provide consulting services for the development of a comprehensive Lake Management Plan for the Coral Cove Lifestyle Village, that addressed key issues related to water quality, safety, and sustainability.

In addition to the compliance requirement, the client appointed us to develop the Lake Management Plan to ensure the sustainable and safe use of the lake for both residents and their visitors. The Lake Management Plan was aimed to address growing concerns related to environmental degradation, public safety, and recreational management. By engaging SLR to create a structured plan, the client sought to implement best practices, comply with regulatory standards, and foster a collaborative approach among stakeholders to preserve the lake's ecological and social value for future generations.

Rather than a short-term fix, our team provided sustainable, future-focused strategies that will help the lake’s health for years to come.
SLR provided concrete, actionable guidelines for improving water quality, enforcing safety standards, and ensuring regular maintenance and monitoring of the lake.

Impact

Located in a coastal growth area with high demand for senior Lifestyle Villages, this plan focuses on long-term health, safety, and environmental sustainability, ensuring the lake serves residents and visitors effectively.

SLR produced an easy to use Lake Management Plan which outlined objectives and procedures for maintaining the lakes and associated infrastructure, focusing on human health, safety, and environmental concerns. It aims to create a healthy lake ecosystem over the long term, ensuring it provides suitable amenities for the residents and their visitors.
