Challenge
Alderley Park’s Mereside Life Science Campus is the UK’s largest single site life sciences campus. We were appointed to consult on the expansion project, which provided 43,921 sq m of R&D facilities as well as 275 residential units, a 100-bed hotel, a 33,300 sq m sports centre and leisure facilities.
Solution
We provided strategic transport planning guidance to progress the development through planning, including masterplanning, transport assessment and travel plans, including a car park management strategy.
We negotiated transport matters to a successful conclusion to facilitate planning consent, which was received in February 2016. This included extensive public consultation and presentations to key stakeholders to engender support.
Impact
The Alderley Park life science park project received a prestigious regional honour at the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) North West Awards for Planning Excellence in October 2016.
