Biography

Aoife is a Senior Architect and masterplannerwith diverse experience from strategic masterplans for urban extensions in Greater Manchester and Merseyside, through to the detailed design of high-density city centre PRS and residential retrofit as part of the Kampus development in Manchester.

She has led on a number of our medium to higher density masterplans in central Salford, Stockport, Birkenhead and Preston. Before joining SLR, Aoife had gained extensive experience at several international practices, most recently Mecanoo where she was an integral member of the Manchester studio for six years. In 2011 Aoife worked as an architectural assistant at SASAKI Associates in Boston, following which she joined Tim Flynn Architects’ London office in 2012.

Aoife shares her practical knowledge with the younger generation of architects, tutoring masters architecture students at Manchester Metropolitan University. The ateliers focus is on the potential of architecture to create inclusive and accessible cities for all using the principles of de-growth. Degrowth design focuses on the reduction of total energy and material use to realign society with the earths limited resources, while improving people's lives and distributing resources fairly.

Alongside Aoife’s role as an architect and urbanist, she also runs a community garden in Stockport town centre and runs educational workshops on growing and biodiversity in urban contexts. Aoife has completed Level 2 Practical Horticulture from the RHS course and received a Distinction.
