Biography
Marco Maestri is the Global Mining Advisory Director for SLR.
He is a Project Management Professional (PMP), holds a degree in Mining Engineering (Hons) from Camborne School of Mines, University of Exeter (UK), and an Executive MBA (2022).
His primary expertise lies in project financial evaluation, feasibility studies, project management and market and economic studies.
Marco has managed and been involved in numerous feasibility studies (ranging from Scoping to Definitive / Bankable) and technical due diligence reviews in projects ranging from early-stage exploration assets to operating mine sites. He has successfully held sole project management responsibility for multi-disciplinary mining projects exceeding a total project capital value of $6 billion (to +/-10% Class 3 level).
He is a Competent Valuator (VALMIN, CIMVAL) and has experience working as a mining analyst for an AIM specialist stockbroker where he assessed and valued mining companies and operations. His M&A experience includes valuing Rio Tinto’s multi-billion-dollar copper assets as part of the proposed merger with Chinalco. In addition to project and professional experience, Marco’s formal post-graduate financial modelling and valuation training includes the Imperial College London’s Mineral Project Appraisal and Finance programme.
Marco is a professional member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM).
