Biography

Stuart is a chartered Landscape Architect who specialises in landscape planning and Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment (LVIA) and its related fields - TVIA (Townscape Assessment), SLVIA (Seascape Assessment) and SEA (Strategic Environmental Assessment). Stuart has provided landscape architecture and landscape planning consultancy services to clients from both private and public sectors for around 14 years and brings a wide range of knowledge and skills.

Stuart has diverse project and industry experience (residential, energy, renewables, infrastructure, minerals and waste developments) across a mix of rural or urban contexts throughout the UK. Stuart’s varied experience is reflected in his ability to work closely in multi-disciplinary teams to ensure that a fully integrated and flexible approach to design and assessment is achieved.

His considerable landscape planning experience includes the following stages of the planning process - origination and site selection; site feasibility and site de-risking; expert design advice; writing and managing LVIAs; mitigation proposals; restoration strategies; post planning advice and written appeals. Recent landscape planning experience includes assessments of settlement / urban expansions, energy infrastructure and windfarm developments. Stuart has been involved in over 20 windfarm sites with recent onshore experience in Dumfries and Galloway, Ayrshire, Moray and Scottish Borders and recent offshore experience in South East England. Stuart understands the necessity for a rigorous and robust assessment process, consistently delivering work that could withstand challenge and scrutiny at all stages of the planning process.
