Former Coal Loader adaptive re-use

Client Name
North Sydney Council
Location
New South Wales, Australia

Challenge

SLR was commissioned by North Sydney Council to assess the potential for the installation of a Photovoltaic (PV) solar system at the Former Coal Loader Adaptive Reuse Demonstration Project in Waverton, New South Wales.

Solution

SLR prepared a concept system layout and the technical specifications required for the recommended system.

Impact

The completed Coal Loader Platform received the NSW Australian Institute of Landscape Architects Award of Excellence for Cultural Heritage in 2018 and is a wonderful example of adaptive re-use of industrial heritage. SLR was responsible for the technical specifications of many of the sustainable technologies used throughout the parkland, including the BiPV solar and PV tracking pole system.
