Mobility strategy for Thames Enterprise Park, Thurrock

Client Name
Thames Enterprise Park
Location
Thurrock, UK

Challenge

We provided transport consultancy for the redevelopment of the former Coryton Oil Refinery to create Thames Enterprise Park. The scheme was taken forward by Greenergy and Marcol.

The park is a 415-acre site within Thames Gateway, which is North West Europe’s largest single regeneration initiative and part of the Freeport. The redevelopment plans could generate 4,500 new jobs for the region, including apprenticeships and training opportunities. It will provide a new Thames Food Park, Thames Energy Park, and central hub.

Solution

We delivered a mobility strategy that provides a step-change in transport choice. It will give employees options for mobility in new and innovative ways, based on principles of sustainability, attractiveness and affordability, and removing reliance on the car. This is entirely reflective of how travel demands are changing and will continue to change, particularly amongst Millennials and Generation Z, who will make up a significant proportion of the workforce by 2031.

Impact

The transport services delivered within the mobility strategy include active travel corridors, bike-sharing, public transport services, car clubs, carpooling, and mobility stations.

We also worked closely with National Highways and Thurrock Council to develop improvements to the local and strategic highway networks.
