Windfarm Environmental & Technical Assessments (UK)
The proposed wind farm is located on the Dunachton & Alvie and Dalraddy Estates in the Monadhliath Mountains, north of Kinguisse.
RWE NPower Renewables instructed SLR to pursue the proposed development of a 60MW to 90MW wind farm via an application under Section 36 of the Electricity Act to the Scottish Government Consents Unit for determination by the Scottish Ministers. SLR was required to provide planning advice and support following the submission of the wind farm planning application.

To prepare an EIA and secure planning permission for a 60MW to 90MW wind farm.
- SLR undertook detailed assessments of the potential effects of the proposed wind turbines and associated infrastructure as part of a comprehensive Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)
- Due to the sensitive location and proximity to the Cairngorms Massif, one of the key issues is landscape and visual impact. SLR’s experienced team undertook a detailed assessment, both of the proposed wind farm on its own and cumulatively within a 35km study area
- Other technical assessments undertaken by SLR included ecology, geology, hydrology and hydrogeology, traffic and transportation. SLR also addressed socio economic issues including potential impacts on local tourism
- SLR prepared and submitted the Section 36 application and accompanying Environmental Statement for the wind farm. Planning permission will be determined following a Public Inquiry scheduled for October 2013
