Expansion of SLR to New Plymouth
SLR Consulting has continued its growth into the New Zealand market with the recruitment of experienced environmental consultant Mark Fitzpatrick. Soon to be based out of a new office located in New Zealand’s Oil and Gas hub, New Plymouth, Mark brings with him a wealth of experience managing environmental projects across the mining, transport and oil and gas sectors.
“I was immediately impressed by the desire for SLR to find locally trained and experienced individuals that knew the New Zealand market and had a primary focus on excellence in their work. With the breadth and depth of the expertise SLR offers, we now offer the New Zealand market a unique service of local New Zealanders who are supported by some of the world’s best and most experienced environmental specialists. These factors coupled with a very impressive company culture and the fact that SLR provide specialist services to multiple sectors, made the opportunity impossible to turn away.”
Primarily, Mark will be spearheading the Environmental Management, Permits and Approvals team, building on his extensive experience gained from successful applications for numerous offshore operators in New Zealand. Mark will also be looking to provide support and expertise to other sectors in the New Zealand market. “New Zealand has a host of environmental challenges and SLR has the capability and experience to help. Whether it be the Dairy, Mining, Energy or Infrastructure sector, SLR has a team to help with anything from sustainability and impact assessments, right through to absolute world-class computation fluid dynamic modelling. It is a very exciting company to represent. And, by structuring the business by technical discipline as opposed to geography, SLR has eliminated any obstacles I may have in the provision of this global expertise on New Zealand projects; something I know our clients will appreciate.”
SLR’s Managing Director for the Asia Pacific, Dr Peter Georgiou said, “We’re very excited that Mark is joining the SLR team in New Zealand. His experience will add enormously to the capability we can provide clients across many vibrant sectors with the New Zealand economy. We look forward to supporting Mark and our growing NZ team through our collegial one-team approach to client service, backed up by an organisational structure designed to serve clients without the usual cross-border politics and budget concerns that can so easily impact global companies like SLR.”
Mark’s appointment follows recent news of SLR’s opening in Wellington and the appointment of AJ Millward as Manager, New Zealand Operations.
