Rod has over 30 years’ experience in formulating erosion and sediment control plans, conducting land reclamation and revegetation programs, undertaking soil surveys, preparing water management plans and assessing environmental impact of mining, rural, industrial and urban developments. Rod is a Certified Professional Soil Scientist (CPSS - 3) with the Australian Society of Soil Science and a is a Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC) with the International Erosion Control Association (IECA).

Having fulfilled the roles of extension officer, regulator, consultant & contractor, Rod is in the unique position of having an intimate knowledge and understanding of the “soil & water industry” from all perspectives.  Rod was a primary Chapter author of the NSW Department of Environment & Conservation’s “Managing Urban Stormwater: Soils & Construction” (2008), the benchmark reference for soils characterisation and erosion / sediment control in NSW.

Rod has provided expert testimony for Commissions of Inquiry and Land and Environment Court hearings in NSW and for Land Court and Supreme Court hearings in Queensland.

Clayton has been an Environmental Consultant for over 10 years within the NSW and QLD resources sector, focusing on soil survey and land capability assessments, agricultural impact statements, erosion and sediment control, mine rehabilitation, mine closure strategies and mine planning approvals. Clayton is a Certified Professional Soil Scientist (CPSS - 2) and is currently a Principal level Consultant for SLR.
