We’re delighted to announce SLR have been awarded the ‘RoSPA Winner of the Health at Work Award’ for demonstrating the best management of health at work during 2020.

Equally, we’ve been awarded the RoSPA President’s (12 consecutive Golds) Award, recognising our health and safety performance for 2020.

As we all know, 2020 was an incredibly challenging year, so to be awarded as overall winners for the health at work award is a testament to SLR’s ‘one team’, supportive culture.

The award submission required us to demonstrate how everyone within SLR supports our strategic health and safety goals, covering our Mental Health First Aid Champions, to private health care access, our mental health and wellbeing hub, and our virtual networking, amongst many more.

Health and safety is always a key focus for SLR, but 2020 saw us encourage wellbeing aspects at such a crucial time. With our people working from home, we recognised a loss of day-to-day connections, which led to a host of both team-level and region-wide initiatives to keep us talking and checking in with each other.

Organisations receiving a RoSPA Award are recognised as being world-leaders in health and safety practice. Every year, nearly 2,000 entrants vie to achieve the highest possible accolade in what is the UK’s longest-running Health & Safety industry awards. Because of this, we are especially proud of this award at such a challenging time.

We’re looking forward to the virtual awards ceremony, which is being held on Thursday the 9th of September.

On winning the Health at Work Award, Emily Fleming, SLR’s HSEQ Manager for Europe, commented, “In receiving this award, we are recognised for the hard work of all of our teams during 2020 in supporting each other’s health and wellbeing through really difficult circumstances. It makes me so proud that this award recognises the importance of all of those activities, big and small, that were put in place during 2020 to support each other, to keep in touch, to enable teamwork and conversations to continue and to support social activities remotely and virtually. Most of all it recognises our ‘one team’ culture and how that is at the centre of all we do.”

Andrew Turk, SLR’s Global Environment, Health & Safety Manager, also said of our RoSPA President’s Award win, “This highest award from RoSPA for the 3rd consecutive year indicates, we have not just been lucky, but have really engrained safety into SLR’s DNA. This award goes to every single employee who, without their belief and commitment to being safe and looking out for their colleague’s safety, we could not achieve such coveted recognition.”
