Biography
Prior to joining B4SI, supported by SLR, Rayan worked in the interfaith charity sector for two years. During this time, she delivered award-winning social action projects, led workshops on project implementation, co-organised London’s largest Youth Interfaith Summit, and produced a guidebook on how to facilitate open interfaith dialogue.
By nature of her two degrees, she is a trained researcher that specialises in the field of international development. Her Masters degree at the University of Oxford saw her critically analyse development programmes that target poverty, race and gender inequality, and environmental sustainability. Rayan focussed her thesis on analysing Palestinian refugee remittances through the lens of humanitarian aid. Not only did this project focus on giving agency back to refugees, but it attempted to shift the popular narrative around them being ‘helpless victims’ and receivers of aid towards them being proactive providers of aid themselves.
