Blue Mountains City Council engaged SLR to undertake the design, approvals and community consultation for six shared paths located in high visitation recreation areas throughout the Blue Mountains.

Solution

The project comprised design, investigations, community engagement, strategic route planning and subsequent environmental planning approvals to inform the construction phase of the project.

The six paths have unique characteristics dependent on their location and primary function, with the design and associated environmental investigations tailored to respond to these unique characteristics.

We undertook early analysis of the sites prior to the inception meeting to gain a sound understanding of the project from the outset.

This understanding allowed us to discuss potentially problematic aspects of the project with Council from the outset to work towards solutions. Additionally, there are a number of other projects interfacing with the shared paths, which we have worked with Council to integrate in the design.
