Highways and transport advice for Cotswolds EV Charging Centre

Client Name
Peter Gilder
Location
The Cotswolds, UK

Challenge

SLR has been retained by Peter Gilder to provide highways and transport advice during the appeal process for an electric vehicle charging station in Lower Slaughter in the Cotswolds.

The application is for 104 electric vehicle charging spaces with a mix of charging facilities, including rapid and trickle chargers. The scheme also includes on-site facilities such as a café for consumers to use while their vehicles charge.

Solution

We are part of the appeal team taking the application to inquiry in the hope the decision to refuse the application will be reverted.

We have provided expert advice on the accessibility of the site in terms of vehicles and non-vehicular modes, particularly those that are sustainable, because a key reason for refusal was the site’s unsustainable location. Equally, our design teams have provided expert advice on the visibility of the site access junction to confirm there are no highways safety issues.

Impact

We will give evidence during the inquiry to demonstrate to the inspector that there are no grounds for refusal based on highway matters.
