Our Social Performance team works with our clients to maximise positive social outcomes and mitigate impacts on society. We provide strategic guidance and expertise to support our clients to identify, measure and manage their social impacts and associated risks and opportunities, to either attain, retain or enhance their social licence to operate.
Earning social licence to operate builds trust and acceptance and is becoming ever more important for successful and sustainable businesses to value and monitor. Our specialists use both bespoke and internationally recognised tools and frameworks to audit, benchmark and design social performance strategies, as well as plan tailored community and stakeholder engagement initiatives that drive social sustainable business practices and deliver positive social outcomes to their communities.
Working across private, public, international development funding and not for profit sectors, we support our clients across the globe to define, assess and manage their social impacts and performance for multiple audiences, from C-suite to local community. With knowledge and experience, our team supports clients to achieve technical optimisation, regulatory approval, value adding environmental social and governance (ESG) performance, and social licence to operate.
Whether through global or local social impact strategies (addressing key areas such as human rights, diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) or supply chain risks), focused community programmes and partnerships, or by innovating for social impact in direct business practices, operations, products, and services. We help our clients understand, manage, measure, and improve their broader socio-economic and value chain impacts, from job creation and procurement to consumer health and well-being, ensuring thriving communities in which businesses can operate.
We support our clients in managing social performance to comply with international standards (Equator Principles, World Bank and International Finance Corporation performance standards), achieving the balance between project development and safeguarding of resilient and inclusive communities. We do this through our subject matter expertise in labour, gender, cultural heritage, indigenous peoples, community health and safety, sustainable livelihoods, resettlement and land acquisition. This includes robust stakeholder engagement throughout the project lifecycle.
SLR is proud to support Business for Societal Impact (B4SI): the global standard in measuring and managing corporate social impact, used for over 30 years by hundreds of the world’s leading companies to articulate and measure the positive impact they have in the world. The B4SI Frameworks form a robust standard any company can apply to articulate the difference their contributions make to business and society. B4SI membership is a gateway to global expertise, top tier business networking, and data insights, providing management information difficult to access anywhere else. B4SI is a proud member of the Business Commission for Tackling Inequalities (BCTI) and works in partnership with multiple global organisations.
