Due to continued commercial success and a busy forward workload, SLR is looking to appoint an experienced land surveyor to be based in its Nottingham office, to undertake a range of topographical and volumetric surveys (and associated reporting, calculations and design/CAD work) for clients across the Minerals & Aggregates, Waste and other sectors. Whilst we are keen to hear from individuals who can demonstrate experience within a similar commercial role, we are equally keen to hear from graduates with knowledge of the industry who are looking to develop a career in this industry.
SLR has a busy, well established Land Survey team which provides Geomatic surveying throughout the country, offering our experience in a wide range of industries for topographical surveying services. The team manages various surveying contracts in specific detail for a range of clients including minerals/waste operators, residential/commercial developers, Civil/Petrochemical/Power engineering firms and more. The team prides itself on understanding the importance of the client’s requirements for site surveys, setting out, and design, providing consistency with its professional AutoCAD capability
Due to the nature of the work and sites visited, the role will require regular travel throughout the East Midlands and North of England and potentially further afield and this may therefore mean that hours worked vary in accordance with the locations.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will be required to undertake topographical surveys on a variety of sites using Leica Total stations and Leica GPS survey equipment; and using LSS and AutoCAD for associated design and reporting.
The successful candidate will be required to work both independently and within a team undertaking and reporting on surveys to a high standard. Problem solving & mathematical skills is essential as LSS and AutoCAD are SLRs primary software for surveying. Whilst a basic understanding of these or similar packages is desirable, we will work with candidates to develop their skills and knowledge of these software packages through continual on-the-job training from our team of expert surveyors leading to a structured career development path.
PERSON SPEC – SUMMARY
Candidates should be able to demonstrate:
• A recognised Land Surveying qualification and appropriate or equivalent, and knowledge of topographical, building and setting-out surveys
• Capable of undertaking topographical surveys using traditional Total Station and GPS equipment
• Some knowledge of AutoCAD is essential to formulate reports and designs, but we will provide training on other in-house software packages
• Full driving license
