Job Description

To help fulfil ongoing plans for expansion, SLR has an opportunity for a Planning Consultant to join its Bristol office to provide support to the Principal Planner working within this office. SLR has a large and successful planning and EIA team that works across all sectors, throughout the UK and with the international business.

This is an exciting opportunity for a degree level qualified planner to help continue to grow the business principally within the Built Environment sector. There will also be opportunities to support SLR’s Waste and Minerals planning team.

With planning instructions across the UK, this opportunity is an excellent prospect for the successful candidate to gain experience across a broad range of projects within multiple geographic areas and LPA administrative areas.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to become involved in the full breadth of planning related issues from pre-acquisition due diligence all the way through to site delivery. The candidate will principally support the Built Environment Planning team in achieving their Business Development Strategy and assisting in the delivery of our growth aspirations. The candidate will also be provided with opportunities to support the Waste and Minerals team within the south west.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with colleagues across SLR's UK office network, and therefore the role may involve travel to other SLR offices and to client sites/meetings .


Candidates should be able to demonstrate:

  • Planning related degree or post-graduate qualification (RTPI accredited)
  • Good knowledge of the planning system and EIA Regulations
  • Strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and, if necessary, to manage a team of internal or external consultants
  • A keen ability to show initiative when necessary and be involved in business development or industry events
  • Good computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel
