Africa Oil Week
The Africa Oil Week will take place in Cape Town at the CTICC2 from 7 – 10 October. The mission of the AOW is “Investing in African Energy”. Sue Reuther, Sector Lead for Energy at SLR in Africa, will be in attendance, along with Steve Husbands, Head of Commercial – Energy Advisory. SLR will also be moderating a few of the panel discussions during the week. On Wednesday Sue will do the moderation of “Building the African operators of the future” and on Thursday she will moderate the discussion around “Managing Emissions: Towards an African Pathway?” Steve will be the moderator for “Gas-to-Power: Unlocking Africa’s Potential” on Tuesday.

Sue Reuther has more than 19 years of experience in the environmental assessment sector. Her core expertise includes Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA / ESIA), including IFC /
PS compliant processes, strategic assessments and spatial planning. She has managed complex projects in South Africa, Southern and West Africa, South America, the Middle East and Asia for a range of sectors, including mining, infrastructure, industrial and coastal developments, renewable and conventional power generation, aquaculture and oil and gas. Sue has expertise in Environmental and Social Due Diligence (ESDD) reviews against Good International Industry Practice (GIIP) and acting as the Independent Environmental and Social Consultant (IESC) for Lenders on projects in Africa and the Middle East.
Steve Husbands has over 35 years’ experience in the international commercialisation of natural gas, power and refined products. His career encompasses upstream, midstream and downstream roles and includes M&A valuations, disputes, IFI projects and commercial assessments. He is a recognised industry expert in gas commercialisation across Sub-Saharan Africa and is regularly invited to speak and chair panels at the leading industry conferences. Steve is ready to advise SLR’s clients on the economic production, transportation, storage and commercialisation of transition fuels.
