Nigel Mather

Biography

Nigel is based in our Auckland office and leads New Zealand’s national Environmental Services team with over 20 years of experience as an environment, health, and safety professional. Nigel oversees the delivery of large-scale contamination land and asbestos management programs of work and environmental management and risk assessment projects.

He has a broad range of environmental management and risk assessment experience, including contaminated land and groundwater assessment and remediation, consent application and technical peer review, hazardous substances management and auditing, environmental due diligence and risk assessment (transactional and advisory services), and HSE management systems implementation and auditing. He is a skilled project manager and has experience in a range of projects involving stakeholder engagement.

Nigel’s industry experience includes working with clients in local government, waste management, oil and gas, mining, infrastructure and construction, primary production, pulp and paper, food and beverage, and property and commercial.

Nigel routinely conducts EHS compliance and diligence audits and assessments and is an experienced EDD practitioner, conducting in excess of 200 environmental, health and safety, and regulatory support audits across due diligence, compliance, management systems, and contaminated site practice sectors. Nigel has historically completed vendor diligence for a number of the main waste management companies in New Zealand (Waste Management New Zealand, Envirowaste, Oji).
