Biography
Sam leads SLR’s Mining Advisory team in Europe; a group of over 30 professionals in geology, rock mechanics, mine engineering, metallurgy, ESG, financial evaluation, and project management, providing a range of advisory services to a global mining client base.
With a background in Resource Geology, and over 15 years consultancy experience, Sam regularly acts as a discipline lead, project manager, project director, or peer reviewer, on primarily due diligence / transactions or feasibility studies. He has worked on greenfield assets through to operational mines and has delivered multiple feasibility assessments for large-scale international projects for major, mid-tier, and junior mining companies. He regularly conducts due diligence reviews for the finance sector, having been involved in some 50+ projects during the last decade, accumulating broad commodity experience across critical and industrial minerals, precious and base metals, and gemstones.
Sam has a degree in Earth Sciences from the University of Oxford, and is a Fellow of the Geological Society of London (FGS), Chartered Geologist (CGeol), and recognised Competent / Qualified Person in several Industrial Mineral types. He provides expert advice to help ensure technical compliance with international reporting and disclosure requirements such as JORC, SAMREC, and NI 43-101. He regularly designs and manages exploration programmes, conducts geological interpretation and modelling, estimates mineral resources, and prepares Competent Person’s Reports.
