Biography
In 30 years of experience as an environmental engineer, Steven Hammer’s focus has been on water quality permitting, wastewater treatment, stormwater permitting, stormwater treatment, remedial investigation, risk assessment, feasibility evaluation, remedial design, process engineering, and spill prevention planning. As a consulting professional engineer, he has:
- Managed complicated wastewater discharge permitting projects, including mixing zone and dye studies.
- Evaluated the feasibility of treatment technologies for seafood processing and other industrial wastewaters, stormwater, and soil and groundwater treatment and then provided engineering services for final design and construction of these systems.
- Designed and specified soil and groundwater remedial actions and industrial stormwater and wastewater pump stations, pipelines, treatment systems, and process controls.
- Managed contaminated site investigations at petroleum, solvent, salt, and wood treatment chemical sites, focusing on developing cost effective, risk-based corrective actions, often including engineering or institutional controls and remediation components.
