Elston House Landscape Frontage

Client Name
Elston
Location
Fortitude Valley, Queensland, Australia

Challenge

SLR was commissioned by Elston to provide landscape designs for their office frontages in Fortitude Valley.

The landscape works focused on providing a hard and soft landscape solution that complemented the building entrance and stood out from the ‘standard’ footpath planting treatment specified by Brisbane City Council. Given the boutique nature of the building and marketed tenancies, Elston required a high level of landscape finish that helped focus works on the Church Street entrance.

Solution

The new planting palette retained the existing Kauri Pines along the street as the dominant tree species, whilst replacing the groundcover species.

The planting scheme reflected new colour and textural finishes to the street that would be hardy as well as improve the aesthetic appearance of the building frontage. SLR worked closely with Reddog Architects who undertook various building upgrades for Elston at the same time.

There was a coordinated approach to the building entry which SLR provided design input to enhance the ground surface finishes to delineate a change from the existing standard footpath finishes.

Impact

The resulting landscape finish provided a denser more textural landscape that compliments the building entrance as well as the ground floor tenancies fronting Church and Ann Streets.
