Biography
Alison is a Coastal Scientist currently based in our Tauranga office with over 13 years of professional experience working in both the public and private sectors of New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Her interests and areas of work are in coastal physical processes and morphodynamics, coastal hazard assessments, shoreline management and coastal adaptation to climate change.
Throughout her career, Alison has built up practical experience in coastal processes modelling, which she has applied to a range of beach and coastal management issues. Alison’s comprehensive background in water science and numerical modelling has helped her clients realise the full development potential of some challenging sites located within coastal hazard areas. These skills have been recognised by her certification as a General Certified Environmental Practitioner (CEnvP) under the Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand programme.
Alison’s skills and experience are underpinned by an MSc majoring in Earth and Ocean Sciences with first-class honours at the University of Waikato. Her Master’s research had a focus on the hydrodynamics and sedimentary morphodynamics on open coast beaches.
