Ben Lee

Biography

Ben is a Technical Director based in our Northland office and manages the Northland Planning team. Ben a highly experienced resource management planner with a track record of leading and delivering a wide range of resource management outcomes in New Zealand. He brings over 20 years of experience working in local government resource management, where he has held a range of policy manager, policy specialist and resource consent roles.

Ben’s particular expertise is in natural resource management policy, with a strong focus on coastal, freshwater and Māori policy. He is highly experienced in all facets of plan and policy development, including stakeholder and Māori engagement. A key achievement was leading the preparation of the Proposed Regional Plan for Northland – from review of the previous regional plans through to Environment Court appeals. He has also been involved in Treaty of Waitangi claim negotiations and Māori/council co-management arrangements.

Ben is a born and bred Northlander with a real passion for Northland’s people and environment.
