Challenge

SLR was commissioned by Balfour Beatty Construction to deliver the construction phase of a new National Automotive Innovation Centre based at the University of Warwick. The new facility aims to bring together students, engineers and designers to develop technology for the advancement of the automotive industry.

The project included the development of a new arrival plaza and pedestrian boulevard, connecting the site to the wider university campus and includes a dramatic new tiered water feature, rain gardens, bespoke seating design, a sunken garden socialising space and cycle and car parking provision.

Solution

SLR’s Landscape Architects were appointed to take tender drawings produced by another design team through to construction stage and delivery on site. This initially required a thorough review of information provided by others to ensure that it could be practically built and delivered to budget.

Following this review SLR produced a full landscape construction pack. During construction SLR responded to queries from site and offered design solutions when required to ensure that the design was delivered as initially intended.
