Northbound Processing Integrated Water Use Licence Application (DWS: WU35408)
24 February 2025 | Client: Northbound Processing (Pty) Ltd
Northbound Processing operates their facility in Germiston. The facility has operated since 1998, facing historical challenges due to the site's previous use as a gold mining operation. Northbound Processing aims to address these issues through a phased approach to the IWULA, focusing initially on stormwater management infrastructure. This will help improve environmental conditions and pave the way for future phases to address broader water use issues.
- The facility is located at 1 Homestead Road, Knights in Germiston, in the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM), located in the Gauteng Province. An IWULA for Phase 1 of existing infrastructure and for new proposed stormwater management infrastructure is underway and consists of: 32 000m3 Pollution Control Dam and associated infrastructure such as associated trapezoidal drains, silt trap; and dust suppression.
- Existing infrastructures to be licenced, namely infrastructure associated with the Facility within the regulated area to a watercourse as well as the existing stormwater catchment dam and rubber dam.
