Job Description

Due to continued success of SLR’s UK air quality team, there is an opportunity for an Air Quality consultant to help expand and complement the existing capabilities within the one of several offices within its Manchester office.

We are seeking candidates with experience (or a strong interest in) Air Quality Consulting, either from a commercial/consultancy setting, or gained within an academic context to work under the direction and mentorship of SLR’s established team of Air Quality specialists and develop skills and capabilities within a highly sought-after specialism within the Environmental sector. We are happy to consider candidates seeking their first opportunity within the discipline, but are equally keen to hear from individuals already working within Air Quality Consulting and seeking their next move

The successful candidate will assist with dispersion modelling assessments of transport and industrial emissions, odour assessments, input into EIAs and Environmental Permit applications. In addition you will have the opportunity to undertake site work collecting air quality and odour data. Suitable training would be provided.

The successful candidate will join an exciting and dynamic team, and become involved in all aspects of project delivery from client liaison and task / project management, and report production you would gain practical experience in dispersion modelling and using software (including AERMOD, ADMS 5, ADMS Roads). Additional training on the use of dispersion modelling software would be provided.


Candidates should be able to demonstrate:

• Relevant BSc degree (or higher) in a subject with numerical data analysis elements

• Experience or knowledge within, or a desire to develop a career within; Air Quality Consulting

• Any specific modelling skills using software such as AERMOD, ADMS, ADMS-Roads or DMRB would be useful but training will be provided

• Good written, communication and presentational skills

• A full driving license is required given the need to travel with site equipment to a variety of client sites which may not be accessible via public transport
