Project Objectives:

SLR undertook an independent earthworks / geotechnical design check of the scheme on behalf of the Contractor, Gama-Tubin and its Designer, Arup Consulting Engineers. SLR also assisted the Contractor in obtaining the necessary waste permits to manage the excess soil and peat generated by the scheme.

Our Role

The key design aspects of the scheme involved construction of the road over drumlin terrain with significant lengths of peat bog and soft lake sediments.

Our input to this scheme included:

  • Independent review and certification of geotechnical and earthworks design
  • Independent review and certification of construction design reports, plans and specifications

SLR was employed separately by Gama Tubin to prepare and submit waste permit applications providing for off-site recovery of excess peat arising from the scheme.  Construction of the scheme commenced in early 2006 and opened to the public in November 2007.
