The day was facilitated by the LANDMARK team, the student social of the Department of Landscape Architecture and was well attended by landscape practices and environmental consultancies as well as students on various years of the degree and post-graduate courses. SLR’s exhibition stand was hosted by Frances Delaney, Associate Landscape Architect based in SLR’s Nottingham office. The event allowed SLR to showcase its portfolio of landscape architecture project work in the built environment, power, infrastructure, mining and minerals sectors.

Derek Rooney, Technical Director (Waste & Resource Management) with SLR, will be presenting at a seminar focussed on the 2021 landfill ban in Scotland. Derek will be joined by colleagues from DWF, PwC and Willis Towers Watson, where they will consider the implications of the landfill ban for local authorities in Scotland.
SLR attended the Energy Show 2017 in Dublin on Wednesday 5th and Thursday 6th April as a member of the Geothermal Association of Ireland (GAI) and manned the Industry Information Pavilion providing information to the public on cheap and efficient applications of reliable ground source heat exchangers and pumps.
SLR’s Nick O’Neill, Director – Geology, will shortly be speaking at AAPG’s Geothermal Cross-Over Technology Workshop. Taking place on 25-26 of April, the workshop has been designed to concentrate on the potential for cross-over technologies and experiences between the petroleum and geothermal industries. It will look to observe the opportunities that exist for improving the efficiencies of both industries; for maintaining delivery of energy to society; and for reducing the impact on the Earth of doing so.

Associate Ecologist with SLR, Nicola Faulks, will be presenting a paper based around habitat mapping, methodology and mitigation at IAIA17 in Montreal from the 4-7th of April. The theme of the conference is ‘Impact Assessment’s Contribution to the Global Efforts in Addressing Climate Change’, and Nicola will be joined by a wealth of other speakers discussing topics from climate finance and risk management, to climate change, extreme events and impact assessment.
