Indigenous people

SLR works closely with the International Finance Institutions to understand specific requirements they promote and works with specialists of particular geographic areas to better understand the issues at hand

We recognise that as companies expand their geographic scope of operations and explore in locations traditionally inhabited by indigenous peoples, there is a need for social skills and mechanisms to assist with this process which recognises the specific cultural, health, economic and political vulnerabilities that these people often endure. SLR has a growing set of skills and experiences to project development in their efforts to work in such locations and to ensure that IPs are correctly identified, appropriately engaged (through free, prior and informed consultations), and that any impacts that may accrue are understood and managed in ways that are fully cognisant of the specific needs and cultural traits of the particular groups affected.
