SLR Technical Director Passes National Quality Mark Scheme
Jamie Robinson, Technical Director in SLR's Bradford on Avon office, has successfully passed the exam to become a Suitably Qualified Person (SQP) through the National Quality Mark Scheme (NQMS). This now makes Jamie a ‘competent person’ through the scheme and means he has the authority to apply a ‘Quality Mark’ to any report relating to contaminated land / land quality in the UK. Jamie is now one of only a few SQP’s in the UK.
The NQMS is a process whereby a competent person, named a Suitably Qualified Peron (SQP), can be appointed. The scheme comes into effect on 15 January 2017 and has been developed to provide visible identification that reports have been checked for quality by a ‘competent person’. When planning applications, or discharge of planning conditions, involve any aspect of land contamination the application process should now be smoother and quicker, with the Quality Mark applied to land quality reports which are used to support the application.
This continues the SLR Land and Water Team’s provision of high level advice across a wide variety of sectors. Jamie can apply the Quality Mark not only to SLR reports but, if of a suitable quality, to reports produced by third parties.
