Biography
Dr Wright is Principal Researcher within the international R&D team at SLR, with 20 years of experience as an academic researcher working in rural and sustainable transport sector at the University of Aberdeen (2007-2020) and Newcastle University (1998 -2007), as well as being a part-time visiting scholar at Cambridge University for 12 months in 2012.
Steve's research work relates to both strategic and local levels:at the Strategic level, concept development and providing guidance at the strategic planning level to inform and shape policy decisions and development of strategy support tools for achieving carbon reduction;at the local level, developing data-driven tools to translate strategic policy measures to local settings to understand feasibility and potential impacts in different environments – helping planners to understand the extent to which different measures are likely to be effective in different locations / contexts. A key output of this is the development of a tool to quantify the impacts and provide validation of vision-led masterplan designs for large developments.
Steve is author/co-author of 14 international peer reviewed academic journal publications (+1 book chapter) in the last 10 years, most with a focus on innovative shared transport solutions. He has also been co-editor of three journal special issues.
