Planning Appeals Road Design
- Client Name
- Logan City Council
- Location
- Logan Reserve, Queensland, Australia
Challenge
Logan Reserve is a quickly developing sub-region of the Logan City Council Local Government Area. Recent development applications have preceded detailed road infrastructure planning for the area meaning land requirements to accommodate future road upgrades are not fully resolved.
SLR was commissioned to assist Logan City Council in multiple Planning and Environment Court matters.
Throughout 2018-2019, each appeal matter required traffic engineering investigations and road design input to establish the function, form and specifics of future road infrastructure such that land could be preserved in Council’s consideration of development applications.
Solution
SLR undertook the following works:
- Evaluation of strategic modelling and Planning Scheme Infrastructure standards
- Traffic capacity modelling (SIDRA)
- Development of functional road concept designs for the corridor in 3D
Impact
The advice and road design input provided by SLR established land preservation boundaries that would facilitate adjoining development. This also helped to accommodate future road infrastructure upgrading with consideration for reducing Council’s exposure to planning and construction risk.
