Challenge

SLR was instructed by The City Zip Company Limited to provide a range of consultancy services for the erection of a temporary zip line development in Archbishop’s Park, Lambeth for a 14-week event.

Solution

After an identification and review of five potential sites within central London, SLR formally advised the client that the Archbishop’s Park site was suitable for the temporary event.

SLR ruled out other sites based on a number of constraints which included cultural heritage assets, highways access, trees, flood risk, and adjoining uses.

Following this, SLR prepared a full planning application for the proposals, including supporting technical assessments for Cultural Heritage, Landscape and Visual Impact, Transport and Crowd Management, Flood Risk and Planning. SLR also prepared a number of technical drawings and 3D visualisations of the development and its relationship to the surrounding townscape.

Impact

The application was initially met with a negative reaction from the local planning authority however, SLR submitted additional evidence to support the development which contributed to these concerns being overcome.
