Transport and highways advice for Bath Western Riverside

Challenge

SLR has been appointed by St William to provide transport and highways advice in relation to the proposed Bath Gasworks development which is a residential-led mixed-use community with approximately 600 homes, retail facilities and a primary school. This is a key development within the Bath urban area on brownfield land which seeks to deliver much needed housing within a short walk of everyday facilities.

Solution

SLR are working with the design team to develop the site as the ideal location to promote a new community designed at a pedestrian scale which maximises the place for people to live, work and play whilst minimising car use. This includes the development of a Sustainable Transport Corridor through the site to enable movement through a former brownfield site as part of the wider Western Riverside proposals.

Impact

The application for this was submitted in 2023 and discussions are ongoing with B&NES with the aim of the site being approved in 2024.
